The Brow Chakra: Seeing Beyond
The brow chakra, also known as the third eye or Ajna chakra, is the energetic center of insight, intuition, and transcendence. Located on the forehead and extending to the back of the head, it’s the key to balanced thinking and feeling—the meeting point of logic and inner knowing.
When this chakra is in harmony, our actions align with wisdom. We experience clarity, deep intuition, and an ability to perceive subtle energy and unseen realities. We begin to co-create life from a higher perspective—one that transcends the limits of our past and opens into expanded consciousness.
From Mind to Mysticism
Physically, the brow chakra connects with the brain, pituitary and pineal glands, eyes, ears, and nervous system. Spiritually, it tunes us to the qualities of indigo, the sound OM, and the frequency of energy itself.
Caroline Myss calls this the “power of the mind” center, where inspiration, intellect, and creative vision converge. When balanced, it frees us from being pulled only by the senses. We no longer react to life—we begin to see it whole.
Imagine moving from the first floor of your life to the 35th. The view shifts. You’re no longer caught in the story of what’s happening—you’re witnessing it from a higher floor. That’s the energy of transcendence.
Nourishing Your Brow Chakra
Here are a few gentle ways to support the opening of your inner vision:
Chant OM for 10 minutes, feeling the vibration rise into your forehead. Let it lengthen your breath and still your thoughts.
Surround yourself with indigo, or meditate on deep blue-violet tones. Let the color carry you inward, like diving gently into a quiet sea.
Carry crystals such as lapis lazuli, sodalite, or sapphire. Let their presence remind you that intuition is your natural state.
Sleep with a stone in your hand, affirming your willingness to release old beliefs and live in the present moment.
A Light Within
I once met a Swami who wore a clay marking over his brow chakra. When asked why, he said:
“If you saw what was behind it, you wouldn’t see a man—you’d see only light. And you might be afraid of that light before you're ready to receive it with love.”
Whether literal or metaphor, his message lives on in me.
You carry that same light.
Let it shine in whatever way feels true for you. Trust that your vision is sacred. The more you see with your soul, the more whole the world becomes.
