Five Elements Workshop
Where This Work Comes From
For many years, I worked as a physical therapist and was often referred to as “the gentle one.” I learned early on that gentleness created more lasting change than pain, and I never subscribed to the idea of “no pain, no gain.” That understanding stayed with me as my work evolved.
In my late forties, I retrained in Polarity Therapy. What drew me to this work was its elemental framework — not as a belief system, but as a practical way of understanding how energy moves through the body and how imbalance develops over time. The Five Elements workshop is based on the aspects of Polarity Therapy I’ve found most useful for everyday understanding of physical symptoms, emotional patterns, and stress-related conditions.
Moving Beyond Labels
When we label a problem — “I have anger issues,” “I have an ulcer,” “I have a urinary tract infection” — we often encapsulate energy around that label. The diagnosis becomes the thing, separate from the whole. In this workshop, we step away from diagnostic labels and instead look at patterns of energy flow.
Rather than focusing on what is “wrong,” we explore what the system is doing and why.
Understanding the Five Elements
Through the lens of the Five Elements — Ether, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth — we explore how imbalance arises and how it can be supported back toward balance. For example, ongoing anger may be understood as excess Fire. But the Fire itself may not be the problem. Too much Air can cause Fire to burn out of control. Too little Water may fail to cool it. Sometimes something as simple as dehydration can affect emotional and physical regulation.
Looking at experience this way allows symptoms to be understood as expressions of a larger energetic system rather than isolated problems.
A Different Way of Seeing
By working with the elements, we begin to stay curious rather than stuck, and compassionate rather than judgmental. The elemental framework helps us see how different parts of the system influence one another and how balance can be restored through understanding rather than force.
What This Workshop Offers
In this three-hour workshop, we explore how the Five Elements interact, how imbalance shows up in everyday life, and how elemental awareness can be used as a framework for self-healing. The emphasis is on understanding energy flow rather than fixing parts.
Practical techniques and visual handouts are included to support continued reflection and application after the workshop.
This workshop is intended as an introduction and orientation — a way of learning to see the body, emotions, and experience through an energetic perspective that supports wholeness rather than fragmentation.
