Expanding Paradigms

Have you noticed people talking about 3D and 4D and 5D dimensions of consciousness? They’re actually talking about moving in our level of understanding from a paradigm that says only what you can see and touch is real, into a paradigm that says the basis of everything is energy.

These two realities can either work together, or they can conflict.

When the body is seen as solid—separate parts, separate problems—that works well for acute problems, accidents, a broken bone. But the model becomes restrictive, constrictive, if you’re dealing with true healing, healing at the core, chronic conditions, whether those conditions are physical, mental or emotional.

As a physical therapist, when I treated patients and talked about the myofascial system, the easiest way to explain it was that the fascia is connected throughout the body. If you stretch an earlobe, something stretches at your toe.

Looking at it in plainer terms, think of a fishing net or a spider web.

Fishing net with a stone pulling at its center, illustrating how a change in one part of an interconnected system affects the whole.

Imagine putting a rock in the bottom of it. Every part of that net shifts. What we may notice first is that it has shifted at a sensitive point, and that point is causing pain. But the real cause may be the rock somewhere else in the net.

Once, I worked on a doctor’s back. He had low back pain, and I treated his neck. He thought I was crazy for treating his neck when his back was what hurt. But the next day he came in and basically said, “I don’t know what you did to me, but my back pain is gone for the first time in 20 years.” I said “It’s all connected”. He said “They didn’t teach me that in Medical School.”

The block was at the neck. I said “It’s all connected”. He said “They didn’t teach me that in Medical School”.

Just as all the physical systems are connected in the human body, that gives us an initial paradigm: all systems are connected. Everything is connected.

Now take this into a paradigm of energy. Energy is where the block may be if we expand our vision a little bit.

I’ve been experiencing a chronic physical problem for a few years now, and I get different responses from different people. The response that is the most physical, the 3D response, is, “Oh, I have a friend who had that. You need to do this.”

That takes away the integration. Yes, that might be a good thing to do, in addition to what I’m doing with energy work and meditation and nutrition and everything else. But one possible answer isn’t necessarily the answer.

That’s why one fix-all doesn’t work for everyone.

Ultimately, healing is of the Spirit. And like a nested doll, the physical is there, but look higher. Don’t ignore it, but look higher. Higher comes the emotional body, the mental body, the Soul, the life plan.

All of that is part of a paradigm that needs to be integrated with the physical.

FeelTheFlow.info is really my own journey. It goes back to physical therapy, where I was always called “the gentle one.” I went against the grain of no pain, no gain. I never found that to be true.

From there came writing, retraining, Polarity Therapy, writing books, and eventually bringing almost everything I have thought, learned, practiced and written in this area into one place: FeelTheFlow.info. That includes my doctoral work from 1988 on transformation.

There are hundreds of thousands of ways to heal. Holistic healing, to me, means attending to the different levels, the different parts of that fishing net that need attention, until we discover the core that finally releases.

It’s a journey. It’s a learning. And the best thing we can do along the way is be gentle with ourselves.

That’s probably the ultimate realization I’ve come to.

So my website, what I teach, what I counsel, and what I’m practicing myself are tools and practices for shifting the perspective just enough to include body, mind and Spirit—and shifting it enough to be gentle with ourselves.

Because healing happens in an atmosphere of gentleness.

We can talk about mitochondria. We can talk about DNA and physiology and all the things we are learning about how the body repairs itself. But ultimately, we don’t really know what sparks a healing. We do know that healing is supported by conditions that allow the system to move toward balance rather than remaining in chaos and struggle.

Recently, I’ve completed what feels like the final core revision of Feel the Flow. I’m offering five workshops, as well as individual energy sessions and counseling sessions.

I hope you’ll check it out. I hope you’ll call me.

Let’s journey together into this gentle healing.
