Meditation Workshop
A gentle exploration of inner awareness, calm, and presence
How meditation first entered my life
Years ago, when my husband and I were newly married, we became curious about meditation. We didn’t know much about it—we were simply drawn to the idea of sitting quietly and listening within.
We found a book by Stephen Levine called A Gradual Awakening. Following its guidance, we began meditating every morning. We would get out of bed, go to the bathroom, and sit. We didn’t brush our teeth or get dressed, because we knew that if daily life started moving, meditation would be skipped.
That simple commitment became the beginning of my lifelong relationship with meditation.
Learning that meditation isn’t one thing
Over time, through teachers, courses, and personal experience, I learned that meditation is not a single method. It is a spectrum of practices that support different needs, different moments, and different nervous system states.
Some days mindfulness meditation feels right. Other days, concentration meditation or guided imagery is more supportive. At times, mantra meditation helps the mind settle. What I came to understand is that meditation works best when it fits the person and the moment—not when it is forced into one form.
What this workshop is really about
This three‑hour workshop offers a grounded, experiential introduction to meditation as a perceptual and nervous‑system practice, not a performance.
Rather than trying to “do it right,” we explore what actually helps the mind soften, the breath deepen, and awareness settle into the present moment.
During the workshop, we explore and practice:
mindfulness meditation
concentration meditation
contemplation and inquiry
guided imagery
You’ll begin to recognize which approaches support calm, clarity, and inner listening in your own system.
What you’ll experience
gentle guidance through several meditation styles
simple ways to settle the mind and body
practices that support emotional ease and nervous system balance
a clearer sense of what helps you feel present
a compassionate, non‑judging approach to meditation
Support you can return to afterward
You’ll receive simple reference materials and guidance you can revisit anytime. Many people find these helpful when meditation feels difficult or when they want to reconnect without pressure or expectation.
Meditation becomes easier when it is approached gently, with curiosity rather than effort. This workshop offers a place to begin—or begin again—with clarity and support.
