Stress Management Workshop

From stress to well-being, one understanding at a time

How this work entered my life

At one point in my career, as I moved from being a clinical physical therapist into teaching and consulting, I found myself working as a stress management consultant through the Augusta, Georgia Chamber of Commerce. I was providing stress management programs for people in business and industry—people under pressure, responsible for others, and often running on empty.

What I learned quickly was that stress isn’t resolved by being told to relax.

If someone says, “You’re too tense, just relax,” it doesn’t help. If it did, stress would disappear the moment we heard the word.

What actually helps with stress

What does help is understanding where tension comes from.

Why does one person love riding a roller coaster while another is frightened by it? The difference isn’t the ride. It’s how the nervous system interprets the experience. Stress isn’t just about circumstances—it’s about perception, belief, and physiology working together.

In this workshop, we explore:

  • where stress responses originate,

  • how beliefs form under pressure,

  • why anger shows up the way it does,

  • and what can be changed mentally, emotionally, and physically to relieve tension.

The goal isn’t just temporary relief. It’s learning how to interrupt stress patterns so they don’t keep repeating.

Stress, the nervous system, and healing

There’s a simple physiological truth underneath all of this: under stress, the immune system decreases its function. When the sympathetic nervous system is dominant, healing is limited.

The body is a self-healing system, working through the immune response, hormones, and chemical signaling. Supporting well-being means understanding how to shift out of chronic stress states and into conditions where healing and regulation are possible.

This workshop brings that understanding into practical, everyday language.

What this workshop offers

The Stress Management: From Stress to Well-Being workshop draws directly from years of real-world teaching and consulting. It includes dozens of approaches—ranging from small, immediately usable techniques to deeper self-examinations.

Rather than offering one solution, the workshop helps you recognize what supports calm and regulation for you.

Tools you can keep using

Participants leave with a wide range of ideas, perspectives, and practices they can return to again and again. Many people find themselves approaching daily challenges differently—not by trying to eliminate stress entirely, but by responding with greater awareness and choice.

An invitation

If you’re feeling worn down by stress—or curious about understanding your own stress responses more clearly—this workshop offers a grounded, humane place to explore what helps and why.

How this workshop works

This is a live, small-group Zoom gathering. You don’t need to be perfectly ready or have anything figured out—only a willingness to show up and engage with what’s present for you.

The workshop is experiential and participatory, with guided exploration, reflection, and space for questions. Visual handouts and reference materials are included to support continued use and reflection after the session.

Registration and payment are completed through the sign-up options below. Once registered, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your Zoom link and any additional details.

If you feel drawn to this workshop but cost would make it difficult, please reach out to me directly. I’m happy to offer a coupon that helps bridge the gap between what you can comfortably pay and the full workshop fee. I believe that one well-timed experience can change the course of a year—and sometimes a life. At the same time, honoring the value of the work helps keep these offerings sustainable. My intention is to meet both needs with care.
